Spartans Continue to Make Strides at Wittenberg Invite on Saturday

Springfield, Ohio - Manchester indoor track and field was in action on Saturday, February 18 at the Wittenberg Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University. 

Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) won the women's shot put with a throw of 12.87 meters. Camp also placed second in the weight throw event with a distance of 14.82 meters. 

Brooke Bouwens (Lake Odessa, Mich., Lakewood) ran a new personal best in the 200 meters, finishing in a time of 27.57 seconds. Bouwens' time is also the third fastest time in Manchester history. 

The women's 4x200 meter relay team consisting of
Penelope Eash (Shipshewana, Ind., Westview), Chaelinn Hutchins (Angola, Ind., Angola), Zoe Lunduski (Chemung, NY., Waverly), and Antonae Cofield (Hammond, Ind., Gavit) took second place, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:58.48. 

Ben Villafuerte (Angola, Ind., Angola) finished in second place in shot put out of 58 athletes with a new personal best and Manchester top-10 mark of 15.71 meters. 

Gabe Hendricks (Fort Wayne, Ind., Bishop Luers) took third in the shot put event with a distance of 15.41 meters. 

Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind., Plymouth) finished the men's one mile run in a time of 4:19.52, good enough for fourth place at Saturday's invite. 

Corbin Till (Fort Wayne, Ind., Bishop Dwenger) finished the men's 200 meter dash in a time of 22.86, a new personal best and Manchester top-10 mark. Till's time is ranked second fastest in school history. 

Gentry Oliver (Lafayette, Ind., McCutcheontook sixth place in the men's triple jump, finishing the event with a distance of 12.34 meters. Oliver also took eighth in the long jump event with a distance of 6.39 meters. 

Up next, the indoor track and field teams will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in the 2023 HCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, February 25.
