Battle Creek, Mich. - The Manchester University women's tennis team defeated Olivet College 6-3 on Sunday, March 5.
The Black and Gold picked up two of the three doubles matches to start off the day.
At no. 1 doubles,
Evelyn Minton (Clarksville, Ind., Jeffersonville) and
Eva Bazzoni (Wabash, Ind., Manchester) defeated their opponents 8-4. Their counterparts at no. 2 doubles,
Heather Binion (Lebanon, Ind., Lebanon) and
Natalie Kotlin (Lowell, Ind., Lowell), brought home the win with a score of 8-3.
The Spartans followed with an equally strong showing in singles, taking four of the six matches.
Eva Bazzoni and
Heather Binion won in straight sets at no. 1 and no. 4 singles respectively. At no. 2 singles,
Evelyn Minton split sets with Leah Hopkins before taking the third set tiebreaker with a score of 10-5. At no. 3 singles,
Natalie Kotlin also split sets with her opponent, Alaina McCormick, with scores of 4-6 and 6-2.
Kotlin won the match in a third set tiebreaker by a score of 12-10.
Up next, the women's tennis team will travel to Angola, Ind. to compete against Trine University on Tuesday, March 14 at 4:00 p.m.
