MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Manchester men's and women's tennis team traveled to Mishawaka to take on the Bethel Pilots on Friday, April 13 for the team's last match of the year.
The men's team fell 9-0 in the nonconference matchup. The loss brings the Spartans to 2-14 overall, 1-4 HCAC.
The no. 1 doubles duo of
Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind., South Putnam) and
Reece Romer (LaGrange, Ind., Lakeland) fell to Wes Troyer and Jerad Bos 8-2.
Brennan Beachy (Goshen, Ind., Westview) and
Braydon Hoggatt (Union City, Ind., Union City) fell at no. 2 doubles by a score of 8-0. The no. 3 doubles pair of
Omar Lemus (Portage, Ind., Portage)and
Aiden Richardson (Knightstown, Knightstown) fell by the same score.
Arnold fell to Lucca Almeida 6–1, 6-0 at no. 1 singles.
Romer fell 6-0, 6-1 at the no. 2 slot. At no. 3 singles,
Beachy was defeated 6-1, 6-4.
Hoggatt fell to Mauricio Vaca 6-0, 6-3 at no. 4 singles.
Lemus and
Richardson both fell by scores of 6-0, 6-0 at no. 5 and no. 6 singles, respectively.
The Spartans will next face off against the Transylvania Pioneers for the last match of the regular season on April 15 at 10:00 a.m. in North Manchester.
