HANOVER, Ind. - The Spartan softball team split a doubleheader against the Hanover College Panthers in HCAC action on Sunday, April 2.
The Spartans collected 13 hits in route to a 7-2 victory in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. The Panthers took game two by a final score of 10-2.
SPARTAN STATS
- The Spartans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top half of the third inning. Two RBI singles by Alee Eaker (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) and Izzy Dittmar (Warsaw, Ind., Warsaw Community) highlighted the third inning for MU.
- Manchester would score four more runs in the top of the seventh inning in route to the 7-2 victory in game one. On the day, Eaker went 3-6 at the plate with two runs scored while Dittmar went 2-7 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored.
- First-year Lexi Goodman (Poplar, Ill., North Boone) went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the Spartans in game one of Sunday's doubleheader.
- In the circle for the Black and Gold, Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind., Chesterton) picked up her seventh win of the season in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. Carr allowed nine hits with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
- Hanover would hold the Spartans to just two runs in game two to take the 10-2 victory and doubleheader split on Sunday.
- Six Spartans would pick up hits in game two, including doubles by Erin Singleton (Brownstown, Ind. , Brownstown Central) and Sabrina Leonard (Fillmore, Ind. , South Putnam).

- Manchester softball will now travel to Albion, Mich. to make up their non-conference doubleheader against the Albion Britons on Thursday, April 6. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
