Manchester Softball Splits Non-Conference Doubleheader at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Spartan's split a non-conference doubleheader at Albion College on Thursday, April 6. 

The Britons took game one by a final score of 11-3 in six innings. The Black and Gold then took game two by a final score of 6-1. 

SPARTAN STATS
  • The Britons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening game of Thurday's doubleheader. Albion would hold MU to just two runs in route to a 11-2 victory in game one. 
  • Albion's pitcher Ashley Pion held the Spartan bats to just three hits and tallied nine strikeouts in six innings of work. 
  • Albion took a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first inning to start game two. The Spartans would answer with six runs in the top of the fourth to secure a 6-1 victory on Thursday. 
  • A two-run double by Erin Singleton (Brownstown, Ind. , Brownstown Central ) and two RBI singles by Brianna Morrow (Atlanta, Ill., Olympia) and Izzy Dittmar (Warsaw, Ind., Warsaw Community) highlighted the fourth inning for the Spartans. 
  • Three Spartans had extra base hits in game two, including two doubles by Sabrina Leonard (Fillmore, Ind. , South Putnam). 
  • Brionna Egold (Greencastle, Ind., South Putnam) picked up her first collegiate win in the circle for Manchester. Egold allowed four hits in seven innings of work for the Black and Gold. 

UP NEXT
  • Manchester softball will travel to Rose-Hulman on Saturday, April 8 for a conference doubleheader against the Fightin' Engineers. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Terre Haute, Ind.
