NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Manchester University softball team was swept by the Saint Mary's Belles in a non-conference doubleheader on Friday, May 5.

The Black & Gold fell by final scores of 9-5 and 6-4.

SPARTAN STATS

• The Spartans took an early 4-0 lead in the opening game of Friday's doubleheader, following three RBI singles in the visiting half of the first inning. The Belles would answer with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Saint Mary's would score six more runs in route to the 9-5 victory in game one. 
• Izzy Dittmar (Warsaw, Ind., Warsaw Community) went 2-3 at the plate in game with one run scored and a walk. 
• The Belles took a 5-1 lead after the first two innings of game two on Friday. The Spartans would try to rally in the fifth and seventh innings but would come up short, dropping game two 6-4.
• Four Spartans collected two hits apiece in game two of Friday's doubleheader, including extra base hits by Brionna Egold (Greencastle, Ind., South Putnam), Erin Singleton (Brownstown, Ind. , Brownstown Central ), and Julianne Gosnell (Amboy, Ind., Oak Hill). 
• Egold pitched a complete game on the mound for the Black and Gold, scattering six hits with two earned runs and two strikeouts. 
• Abby Eberhardt (Shelbyville, Ind. , Triton Central ) went 2-4 at the plate in two with one run scored and one RBI.

• Manchester softball will conclude its regular season on the road at Franklin College on Saturday, May 6. 
• The Spartans and Grizzlies will face-off in an HCAC doubleheader, with game one scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
