HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Manchester University women's volleyball team fell short against the Foresters of Huntington University on Saturday, September 9.
MU was able to grind out a 25-22 first set victory; however, the Foresters were able to rally past the Spartans in the second, third, and fourth sets for a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester senior outside hitter
Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) led the Spartan's offensive attack with 20 kills.
Maze also added two service aces and 10 digs. First-year
Mariah Forbes (Breman, Ind., Penn) led with 14 assists, while fellow first-year
Alexa Kouskousakis (Rochester, Ind., Rochester Community) added 12 assists.
Defensively,
Tiffany Watterson (Elkhart, Ind., Elkhart) led with 25 digs.
Avery Ball (Decatur, Ind., Belmont)added 12 digs on the afternoon.
Lily Lichtenbarger (South Bend, Ind., New Prairie) had two block assists.
Manchester (4-3) will head to Wheaton, Ill. to compete in the Marilyn Scribner Invitational hosted by Wheaton College on Friday and Saturday. The Black & Gold will take on Illinois Tech on Friday evening before facing off against Aurora and Concordia Chicago on Saturday.
