NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against the Defiance College Yellow Jackets to open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Wednesday, September 27.
The first goal of the night came in the 28th minute of Wednesdays' match.
Harley Kruschwitz (North Manchester, Ind., Manchester) would score his ninth goal of the season, assisted by
Mlangalire Kamungo (Grand Rapids, Mich., East Kentwood). A free kick would allow the Yellow Jackets to tie the score at 1-1.
In the second half of action, Defiance would snag the 2-1 lead thanks to a goal by Quinn Holtzapple, assisted by Riley Hensley in the 67th minute. The Spartans weren't done, as
Noah Black (Swayzee, Ind., Mississinewa) sent the ball into the box off a free kick to find
Kruschwitz who once again netted a goal in the 83rd minute to tie the score at 2-2.
As a team, the Spartans outshot the Yellow Jackets 24-6. Manchester also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Kruschwitz led the Black and Gold with seven shots, landing four of them on goal during Wednesday's contest.
Cory Mitchell (Maitland, Fla., Winter Park) and
Cayden Holley (Centerville, Ohio, Centerville) added two shots on goal for Manchester.
Manchester is still without a loss as they move to 4-0-5, 0-0-1 HCAC. Defiance is now 3-4-3, 0-0-1 HCAC.
Up next, the Spartans will host the Transylvania Pioneers for another HCAC matchup on Saturday, September 30. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Good Field.
