NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester women's soccer team opened the 2023 season with two non-conference matches against
DePauw University and Aurora University on Friday and Sunday.
DePauw 10, Manchester 0
The Tigers showed their offensive power in the match, shooting 27 shots, 15 of which were on goal.
DePauw was able to bury 10 goals on the afternoon.
Manchester's offensive attack was led by first year
Audrey Spencer (Marian, Ind., Mississinewa) with one shot in the 28th minute. In the second half, sophomore
Grace Papazoglou (Commack, NY., Commack) added another shot in the final minutes.
Madilyn VanDerWeele (Tippecanoe, Ind., Argos) made seven saves on the night for the Black and Gold.
Aurora 4, Manchester 0
Manchester was back-in-action on Sunday as they hosted the Spartans of Aurora University. Aurora netted 4 goals to take home the 4-0 victory.
The Spartans were led by
Elaina Halferty (Columbia City, Ind., Eagle Tech Academy) with two shots on the afternoon.
Alaina Karkoff (Bradenton, Fla., Bayshore) added a shot on goal for the Spartans.
Manchester junior
Madilyn VanDerWeele (Tippecanoe, Ind., Argos) tallied four saves in goal.
