CHICAGO, Ill. – The Manchester University men's wrestling team was back in action on Saturday, January 20 in neighboring Illinois. The Spartans and Maroons faced off in a dual match, with the University of Chicago edging Manchester by a final score of 38-17.
Nasir Christion (Merrillville, Ind., Merrillville) got things started for Manchester with a win by fall over Chicago's Glen Cahilly at 125-pounds.
After the next four weight classes went the way of the Maroons,
James Bettcher (Lakeville, Ind., LaVille) answered back for the Spartans with a pin of Ian Rudner at the 157-pound weight class.
First-year
Ethan Risner (Portage, Ind., Portage) picked up a win by tech fall (15-1) over Hutch Lynott.
Up next, Manchester men's wrestling will take this next weekend off before competing in the Greyhound Open hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Sunday, February 4.
