LIMA, Ohio - The Manchester men's swimming and diving team finished the 2023-24 regular season with an 8-4 dual meet record after defeating both Hanover College and Bluffton University during the
Bluffton Tri-Meet on Saturday, January 27. This marks the program's first winning season since Manchester started competing in NCAA Division III during the 2015-16 academic year.
The Spartans defeated the Beavers by a final score of 165-13 and the Panthers by a team score of 156-21. Manchester brought home 11 event wins on Saturday, highlighted by two team members with two individual wins each and two relay team victories.
Colten Schulte (Huntington, Ind., Huntington North) finished the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:51.94, good enough for first place. The sophomore also brought home first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.42.
Michael DeBartolo (Elkhart, Ind., Concord) brought home the top spot in the 200-yard IM after finishing with a time of 2:10.93. He also took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.37.
Spencer Harrison (Tipton, Ind., Tipton) took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:02.48.
Parker York (Roann, Ind., Manchester) finished the 100-yard butterfly in first place after touching the wall in a time of 56.47.
Logan Davis (Elkhart, Ind., Elkhart) competed in the 100-yard backstroke, bringing home first place with a time of 59.68.
Jaden Chin Hong (Trinidad and Tobago, Logansport) finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.47, good enough for first place overall.
Takoda Stone (Lakeville, Ind., Mishawaka) took first in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 172.65.
The men's 200-yard medley relay team consisting of
Logan Davis,
Jaden Chin Hong,
Michael DeBartolo, and
Parker York swam to first place with a time of 1:46.13.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of
Logan Davis,
Payton Elsrod,
Hung Tran, and
Parker York finished in a time of 1:33.18 for first place.
Up next, Manchester swimming and diving will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day event is slated to begin on Wednesday, February 14 at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
