Anderson, Ind.- The Manchester Softball team traveled to Anderson, Indiana to play rival Anderson University in an HCAC doubleheader Wednesday, April 24th.

The Spartans fell to the Ravens, losing game one 3-4, and game two 1-9.

Game 1: ANDERSON 4, MANCHESTER 3

• Lexi Goodman (Poplar, Ill. , North Boone ) got the Spartans on the board first in the second inning with a single past third base, making it 1-0.

• Manchester held the lead until the fifth inning when Anderson took the lead 3-1. 

• The Spartans responded in the sixth inning tying the game 3-3 off a Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind., Chesterton) single to left field, bringing in two runs.

• The Ravens secured the win 4-3 off a bunt and a Spartans error.

•  As a team, the Spartans had seven hits. Goodman and Izzy Dittmar (Warsaw, Ind., Warsaw Community) lead the Spartans with two hits each. 

• Carr pitched all six innings, scattering 12 hits and recording three strikeouts.

Game 2: ANDERSON 9, MANCHESTER 1

• Anderson got on the board in the first inning, making it 1-0.

• Manchester responded in the second, tying the score 1-1 off an Erin Singleton (Brownstown, Ind. , Brownstown Central ) single to left field.

• Anderson's offensive efficiency continued earning eight runs and winning 9-1.

NEXT UP:

• The Spartans will travel to Richmond, Indiana on Saturday, April 27 to take on the Quakers of Earlham College in an HCAC doubleheader.

• Game one will start at 1:00 p.m., with the second game to follow.
