North Manchester, Ind. - The Manchester Spartans Softball celebrated their seniors this past weekend with a HCAC Doubleheader against Franklin College.
Manchester split with the Grizzlies losing game one 2-10 and winning game two 7-4.
Game 1 Franklin 10, Manchester 2
- Franklin got things started early with a RBI double in the 2nd, Manchester responded in the third when in the 3rd, Kaitlyn Carr knocked a single into right field bringing in a run to tie the game 1-1.
- Franklins offense got hot the next two innings putting up a total four runs in the 4th and 5th inning.
- Manchester was able to get back on the board in the bottom of the 5th when Carr drove in another run with a double down the line.
- Franklins offense stayed hot winning the game 10-2.
- The Spartans combined for 8 hits.
Game 2 Franklin 4, Manchester 7
- The Black and Gold started game two hot, getting started was Sabrina Leonard who hit a double to left center. Not far after, Alee Eaker would do the same bringing in another run and taking a 2-0 lead.
- Franklin clawed back in the 2nd, posting three runs making the game 3-2 Franklin.
- In the 3rd, Kaitlyn Carr was back again with a RBI double to left center to tie the game.
- The Spartans took the lead in the 4th when a Kendal Rider scored one putting the Spartans up 4-3.
- The runs didn't stop there because in the 5th the Spartans would score three more thanks to an Erin Singleton 2 RBI single and a Riley Leverington single down the line that scored one.
- The Spartans combined for 11 hits and held on to win the game 7-4.
