North Manchester, Ind. - The Manchester Spartans softball team traveled to Defiance, Ohio to take on the Defiance Yellow Jackets on Thursday, May 2, game two of the doubleheader was postponed to Monday, May 6.

The Spartans dropped both game losing Game one 3-10 and Game two 4-8.


Game One: Manchester 3, Defiance 10

• The Spartans got things started with an Abby Eberhardt (Shelbyville, Ind. , Triton Central ) single down the right field line that score one putting the Spartans up 1-0 in the 1st.
• In the 3rd, the Spartans strike again. This time coming from a wild pitch that brought in Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic).
• Soon after in the 4th, Defiance walked in a run with Braelyn Carter (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) scoring and putting the Spartans up 3-0.
• The Yellow Jackets would go on to score 10 runs in two innings and take game one 10-3.
• The Spartans had nine hits including Lizzy Willis (Yorktown, Ind., Yorktown) and Alee Eaker (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) both going 2-3 at the plate.

Game Two: Manchester 4, Defiance 8

• In game two, Defiance got started hot putting up four runs in the bottom of the 1st.
• The Spartans responded in the 2nd by putting up two runs of their own coming from a Lexi Goodman (Poplar, Ill. , North Boone ) single and a Fielders choice coming off the bat of Kendal Rider.
• In the 5th inning, Defiance was able to put on four more runs making the score 8-2.
• Later in the 7th, Manchester tried to fight back with Sabrina Leonard (Fillmore, Ind., South Putnam) driving in Riley Leverington (Indianapolis, Ind., Decatur Central) and Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind., Chesterton) driving in Kendal Rider, but the efforts were cut short as the Spartans lost 4-8.
