Men's Soccer Earn Victory Over Olivet

North Manchester, ind. - The Manchester University Men's Soccer team hosted The University of Olivet Comets on Tuesday night in a non-conference match up.

The Spartans would come away victorious, earning their first win of the season and on home soil.

Manchester 1, Olivet 0

It was an exciting start to the game with six shots and four corner kicks being taken in the first 15 minutes of the half. This energy continued throughout the first half causing fouls, saves, and some chippyness between the squads to round out the first half.

In the second half, the first of five yellow cards would be issued in the 69th minute of play, and two minutes later, Captain Kole Williams (Lafayette, Ind., McCutcheon) linked up with #10 Andy Ignatovich (Ceresco, MIch., Lakeview) who slotted the ball past Olivet's keeper to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the 71st minute. Just minutes later the Spartans would commit a foul in the box that would lead to an Olivet penalty kick, however Goalkeeper Aaron Ketchmark (Kouts, Ind., Kouts) made the miraculous save the keep his clean sheet alive and the Spartan's hopes alive. Four more yellow cards were issued in the final ten minutes of the match up, as the Spartans would close the door and seal their victory.

Manchester would total six shots and Ketchmark came away with the clean sheet and seven saves.

The Spartans (1-3-1) look to keep the momentum rolling as they travel to Lansing, Mich. to take on Great Lakes Christian College Saturday, Sep. 14.
