North Manchester, Ind. - The Manchester University Men's Basketball Team hosted Berea College on Saturday in a HCAC match up.
The Spartans fell to the Mountaineers 65-79 and drop to 1-6 in conference play.

The first half started out back and forth between the two teams with Berea going into the locker room with a two point lead at the break. In the second half Berea started out hot and did not look back as they got out to a big lead and finished the game winning by 14.Â
Bryant Smith (West Lafayette, Ind., Harrison) led the Spartans in scoring with 24 points as well as rebounds with 9 rebounds.
Blake Shewmaker (Bargersville, Greenwood Christian Academy) was a threat for the Berea defense, finishing with 2 blocks and 1 steal to go along with his 6 rebounds.
Max Robertson (Pittsboro, Ind., Tri-West) was the only other Spartan in double figures for points, the Freshman scored 10 and shot 33% from beyond the arc.
The Spartans look to bounce back as they host rival Anderson University on January 15.Â
