North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester Women's Soccer put together a disciplined defensive performance on Wednesday afternoon but fell just short, dropping a 1–0 decision to Franklin at Good Field.
Both teams struggled to generate clear chances early as the game developed into a defensive battle. Manchester goalkeeper
Reagan Claus anchored the Spartans' back line with an excellent outing, tallying
eight saves on
nine shots on goal to keep her team within reach throughout the contest. Franklin held the early edge in possession and finished the opening half with a 6–0 advantage in shots, but Claus and the Manchester defense—featuring steady contributions from
Sian Rogers,
Jameela Hydre Yusoff, and
Bella Flores—kept the match scoreless at the break.
The Spartans showed more attacking intent in the second half, finding space in transition and creating a few promising opportunities.
Imari Francis and
Lily DeTray both placed shots on target that forced Franklin's goalkeeper into saves, while
Layla Huneck added another attempt as Manchester pressed forward. Despite the improved offensive flow, Franklin managed to find the breakthrough late. In the
85th minute, putting the visitors up 1–0—a lead that would hold through the final whistle.
Manchester finished with
three total shots (two on goal) compared to Franklin's eleven. Even in defeat, the Spartans demonstrated resilience, composure, and continued defensive growth—showing progress against a Franklin side that controlled much of the possession.
The loss drops Manchester to
1–11–1 overall and
0–5 in HCAC play, but the Spartans will look to carry the second-half energy and strong goalkeeping into future conference matchup.
