Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Manchester Battles to 0-0 Draw

Anderson, Ind. - The Manchester University men's soccer team earned a road point on Wednesday afternoon, playing Anderson (IN) to a 0–0 draw in a defensive battle at Fridley Field.

The result marked another solid showing for the Spartans, who continued to find consistency in conference play while displaying strong defensive discipline throughout the match. Manchester goalkeeper Will Martin was steady between the posts, recording three saves en route to his second shutout of the season. Martin's composure helped keep the Ravens off the board despite Anderson holding a 16–7 edge in total shots and creating several threatening chances, including eight corner kicks. The Spartan defense, anchored by Cole Spagna, Brodie Borries, and Nick Merrion, stood tall for all 90 minutes, clearing dangerous balls and limiting Anderson's quality looks. Both Spagna and Borries picked up yellow cards in the late stages as part of Manchester's determined defensive stand.

Offensively, Manchester worked hard to create opportunities but found it difficult to break through the Raven back line. Edwin Rodriguez led the Spartans with two shots, while Alan Galvez, Dana Lewis, and Christian Munos also registered attempts. The closest call came in the 80th minute when Rodriguez's strike clipped the crossbar, nearly giving Manchester the breakthrough. In a physical and evenly contested match, Manchester matched Anderson's energy and focus, maintaining composure through 11 fouls and using its depth with several substitutions to stay fresh late.

With the draw, the Spartans move to 2–5–4 overall and 1–1–1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play, earning their first conference shutout of the season. Manchester will look to carry its defensive momentum into its next matchup as they continue the push through the conference schedule.
