North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester volleyball put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday night, defeating Rose-Hulman 3–1 at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. The Spartans won by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 24-26, and 25-15, improving to 12-13 overall and 3-4 in HCAC play.
From the opening serve, Manchester controlled the pace with a balanced attack and strong defensive presence. The Spartans hit an impressive .444 in the first set and never looked back, using efficient setting from Morgan Howard and a combination of power and precision from hitters Avery Ball, Lily Lichtenbarger, and Maddi Smith. Even after dropping a close third set, Manchester regained full control in the fourth, closing out the match with a dominant 25-15 frame fueled by timely blocking and aggressive serving.
Ball led the way with 14 kills, 13 digs, and 3 service aces, while Lichtenbarger was outstanding at the net with 12 kills on .550 hitting and five block assists. Smith added 11 kills and three blocks, and Hixson chipped in five kills and two solo blocks. Howard guided the offense with 44 assists, five aces, and six digs, and Watterson anchored the defense with 17 digs.
As a team, the Spartans outhit the Engineers .260 to .138, finishing with 53 kills, 10 total blocks, and eight aces. The win showcased Manchester's depth and composure, sending the home crowd home happy and keeping the Spartans firmly in the HCAC postseason hunt.
