Orlando, FL - The Manchester University Softball team traveled down to Orlando, FL where they would take part in the Spring Games, which was eight games scattered across four days in sunny Florida.
Softball finished the trip on a five-game win streak, winning 6/8 games played and improving to 8-4 on the year heading into HCAC play.
The Spartans put up seven or more runs in five games as the offense came down to the Florida heat to play ball.
A highlight from the trip was their victory over Wisconsin-Osh Kosh (16-2). UW Osh Kosh is currently ranked #7 in Division III by the NFCA and the Spartans certainly turned some heads when they took down the Titans. In that game
Lizzy Willis (Yorktown, Ind., Yorktown) took home her second win of the season after pitching all seven innings and only allowing one run. Willis struck out two and the Spartan defense held strong to give them a chance to win it in the bottom of the 7th.
Abby Eberhardt (Shelbyville, Ind., Triton Central) hit a walk-off sac fly to LF to bring in
Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic) to finish the game and secure a Spartan Victory.
The Spartans now 8-4 look to continue their win streak, as their next opponent will be at Kalamazoo on April 1.
