Hanover, Ind. - The Manchester University Softball team traveled to Hanover on Sunday to play a HCAC Double Header.
The Spartans lost a heart breaker in game one after a walk-off by Hanover but bounced back to score five and win game two.

A walk-off left Manchester University on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Hanover College on Sunday. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when
Brionna Egold (Greencastle, Ind., South Putnam) induced #4 to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Manchester University lost despite out-hitting Hanover College 10 to five.
Erin Singleton led Manchester University with three hits.
Hanover College got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after #24 singled, scoring one run, #2 singled, scoring one run, #3 drew a walk, scoring one run, and #7 grounded out, scoring two runs.
The Spartans tied the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to three doubles. Manchester University tied the game at five on a double by Egold.
Egold took the loss for Manchester University. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking four.
Julianne Gosnell (Amboy, Ind., Oak Hill) stepped in the circle first for Manchester University. The pitcher gave up three hits and three runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none.Â
Lizzy Willis (Yorktown, Ind., Yorktown) and Egold each drove in two runs for Manchester University.
Alee Eaker (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) collected two hits for Manchester University in four at bats. MU stole three bases in the game.

Manchester University opened the scoring in the second after
Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic)Â doubled, scoring one run.
#1 singled down the left field line, which helped Hanover College tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

Alee Eaker (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) gave the Spartans the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.
#12 doubled down the left field line, which helped Hanover College tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.
An error gave Manchester University the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth.
Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind., Chesterton) earned the win for Manchester. The hurler surrendered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out none and walking one.
Eaker drove the middle of the lineup, leading Manchester University with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
Sabrina Leonard (Fillmore, Ind., South Putnam) and Eaker were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Spartans. Manchester University were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
Molly Gilhooly (Mount Prospect, Ill., Prospect) made the most plays with five.
