Kendal Rider Sets Single Season Stolen Base Record in Sweep Over Albion

Albion, Mich. - The Manchester University Softball team traveled up north to take on the Brits of Albion College in a mid-week doubleheader.

The Spartans came away with both wins as well as a new single season record for stolen bases, now held by Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic) with 34 and counting. 

Game One Manchester 5, Albion 0

The Spartans defense shut down the Brits as Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind., Chesterton) pitched all seven, throwing another complete game shutout while only allowing three hits and zero runs. Erin Singleton (Brownstown, Ind., Brownstown Central) led the Spartans in hits and stolen bases in the game where she acquired three of each, and Alee Eaker (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) was a driving force in getting runs on the board with two hits and two RBI.


Game Two Manchester 4, Albion 2

Pitching yet again proved to be strong, this time with Brionna Egold (Greencastle, Ind., South Putnam) picking up the win, pitching all seven with five strikeouts and two earned runs. It was early in the game where the Spartans took the lead and did not let it go, In the top of the 1st, Rider made her move to the top of the record book and stole second to secure her 34th stolen base of the year and be put in prime position to score the opening run.


Manchester will look to close out the regular season this Saturday at home as they host Berea College for their Senior Day.
