Manchester Baseball Welcomes Shane Smith as Assistant Coach

North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester University Baseball adds Shane Smith as a new assistant coach. 
 

Smith has coached baseball for 27 years at various levels. He spent the last three years as the head coach of the Manchester Squires baseball program. During his time with the Squires, the team won 47 games, including the first-ever 20-win season in school history in 2024. That same season, the team also won the TRC Conference Championship.

The Squires earned 18 All-Conference nominations during Smith's three-year tenure. Prior to becoming the head coach at Manchester, Smith was an assistant coach at Wabash High School for two seasons.

Smith has been heavily involved in travel baseball over the last 12 years. He served as the President of the Wabash Pride Baseball program for seven years. He is currently entering his second season with the Marucci Prospects travel baseball program, where he serves as the 17U Select Head Coach.

In addition to coaching, Smith has spent most of his adult life working in the mental health field within an educational setting. He is entering his second year as a sixth-grade teacher at St. Bernard in Wabash, where he also serves as the school safety specialist and Dean of Students.

Smith and his wife, Tiffany (married 23 years), reside in Wabash. They have four children: Blake (22), Ashton (21), Jackson (18), and Ella (15).
