Richmond, Ind. - Manchester fell 2–1 on the road against Earlham on Saturday afternoon at Matlack-Messer Stadium. The Spartans battled until the final whistle but could not overcome Earlham's consistent offensive pressure.
Manchester faced a heavy attack early, as Earlham launched 16 shots in the opening half. Goalkeeper
Reagan Claus kept the Spartans in the match with
nine saves in the first 45 minutes, including multiple stops from point-blank range. Despite her efforts, Earlham broke through in the 38th minute, sending Manchester into halftime trailing 1–0.
Earlham doubled its lead in the 82nd minute, but Manchester responded just three minutes later. In the 86th minute,
Lily DeTray capitalized on a chance and buried Manchester's lone goal of the day—her third of the season—to pull the Spartans within one. Manchester pressed in the closing minutes but couldn't find an equalizer.
Manchester will look to bounce back next Saturday as they host Transylvania at Good Field, 1:00 PM start.
