North Manchester Ind. - Manchester fell 1–0 at Good Field on Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought matchup against Indiana–South Bend. Despite a resilient defensive performance and standout goalkeeping, the Spartans were unable to find the back of the net and are still searching for their first win of the season.
Goalkeeper Reagan Claus was Manchester's star, tallying nine saves — six of them in a busy first half — to keep the Spartans within reach. Manchester's back line, anchored by Sian Rogers, Rayne Bell, and Jameela Hydre Yusoff, battled to contain a steady ISB attack that racked up 14 total shots.
The lone goal of the match came in the 67th minute when ISB's Olivia Enyeart converted off a pass from Aryanna Allen. Manchester had its best looks midway through the first half when Lily DeTray and Delaney Kelly both took shots, with DeTray adding another late attempt in the 89th minute that missed just wide.
The Spartans played physically, committing 10 fouls and earning a first-half yellow card on Layla Huneck. Head coach rotations kept legs fresh, with frequent substitutions across midfield and defense, but Manchester's three total shots — none on frame — highlighted the attacking struggles.
With the loss, Manchester drops to 0–3 on the season. The Spartans will look to regroup and build on the defensive effort as they prepare to travel to Olivet on September 9, 4:00 PM start.
