Spartans Come Up Short in Anderson

Anderson, Ind. - Manchester men's basketball dropped a 103-79 decision at Anderson on Wednesday night in HCAC play, but the Spartans showed plenty of fight offensively behind a big night from their backcourt.

Manchester trailed 44-32 at the break, then put up 47 points in the second half while continuing to lean on its perimeter attack. The Spartans knocked down 12 three-pointers and shot 28-for-63 overall, with Ty Lynas leading the way with 23 points, two steals and three assists. Clay McCorkle also had a strong all-around performance, finishing with 21 points, five triples, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Ladarius Wallace added 16 points on a perfect 4-for-4 from three (and 4-for-5 at the line).

Anderson's efficiency and interior production proved tough to overcome, as the Ravens shot 41-for-76 and scored 50 points in the paint, while turning Manchester's 16 turnovers into 28 points. Manchester generated some positive moments on the defensive end with eight steals and got 15 bench points, but Anderson's balanced scoring and pace—especially in the second half—kept the Spartans from making a sustained push.
