Spartans Bested by Fightin' Engineers

North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester men's basketball ran into a hot-shooting Rose-Hulman squad Wednesday night at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena, falling 73-59 in HCAC play.

The Engineers jumped out fast and never trailed, opening the game on an 11-0 run and drilling nine first-half threes to build a 40-26 halftime lead. Manchester steadied itself after the early deficit behind second-chance points and improved ball movement, then came out of the locker room with momentum—Max Robertson buried a three and scored again in transition to help spark a quick push that trimmed the margin to nine (45-36) in the opening minutes of the second half.

Robertson led the Spartans with 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting and hit three triples, while Clay McCorkle added 13 points and three threes. Ty Lynas finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and a team-high six assists, and Logan Brace chipped in nine points and five boards.

Manchester shot 9-for-25 from beyond the arc and won several stretches in the second half (33-33), but Rose-Hulman's perimeter accuracy proved decisive—13 made threes overall, including timely answers whenever the Spartans threatened to close the gap. Manchester also held a slim edge on the glass (30-36 overall) and kept turnovers to eight, but couldn't generate enough stops as the Engineers shot 29-for-61 from the field on the night.
