Franklin, Ind. - Manchester Women's Basketball fell 80-52 at Franklin on Wednesday night in HCAC play. The Spartans showed early energy as Hailee Kline drilled a pair of first-quarter threes and Maddi Smith worked for second-chance points, but Franklin's pressure and transition offense helped the Grizzlies take a 26-12 lead after one.
Manchester steadied in the second quarter behind Hannah Holmes, who scored inside and at the line as the Spartans battled to a 44-29 halftime deficit. The third quarter proved decisive, as Franklin forced turnovers and turned them into quick points, outscoring Manchester 25-8 in the period to stretch the margin to 69-37.
Holmes led Manchester with 13 points and seven rebounds, Smith added nine points and seven boards, and Kline finished with eight points. Manchester won the rebounding battle 38-36 and scored 26 points in the paint, but 31 turnovers led to 35 Franklin points, and the Grizzlies added 22 fast-break points to pull away.
