Spartans Secure Double Second-Place Finishes at the Rose-Hulman Spring Classic

Terre Haute, Ind. - The Manchester University men's and women's track and field teams turned in strong performances Saturday at the RHIT Spring Classic, each finishing second overall in a competitive outdoor meet hosted by Rose-Hulman.

The Manchester women totaled 166 points to place second in the team standings, while the men finished second with 122 points. Both squads showed balance across sprints, distance events, throws, jumps, and relays.

Field events were a major strength throughout the day. On the women's side, Katrina Sejour won the hammer throw with a mark of 47.16 meters. Abbi Kohler added a third-place finish in the discus and fourth in the shot put, while Charlotte Wilson placed third in the shot put and fourth in the discus. Reagan Claus finished second in the shot put with a throw of 11.50 meters and added sixth-place points in the discus.

The men also found success in the throws, led by Shane Hagen, who won the javelin with a throw of 49.31 meters. Luke Davis and Frank Moody followed with fifth- and sixth-place finishes. Wyatt Dickey and Sam Mechling each scored in the shot put to add depth, while several Spartans contributed points in the discus.

Manchester's jumpers delivered key performances as well. Moe Williams won the men's long jump with a leap of 6.36 meters, while Gentry Oliver finished second at 6.29 meters. Coco Truelove led the women's long jump group with a first-place jump of 5.01 meters.

On the track, Manchester claimed multiple individual victories. Kenny Redd won the men's 400 meters in 49.07 seconds, and Gavin Byerly captured the men's 800 meters with a winning time of 1:53.85. Brenden Oden finished second in the men's 1500 meters, followed closely by Will Coggins in fourth and David Lacy in sixth.

Distance events produced strong results for the women, particularly in the 5000 meters, where Kadence Fox placed second, Addison Sterk finished third, and Addison Ebert took fifth. Jackie Schackleford added a third-place finish in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, while Jonah Miller finished fifth in the men's steeplechase.

Manchester was also solid in relay competition. The women's 4x100 relay team of Anna Jozsa, Sophie Minnick, Jay'ana Blakely, and Coco Truelove won the event in 50.31 seconds. Manchester also placed third with its second relay squad. The men's 4x100 relay finished second overall.

In individual sprint events, Oliver finished second in the men's 100 meters, while Williams added points in the same event. On the women's side, Truelove placed third and Minnick finished fourth in the 100 meters, with both returning to score in the 200 meters.
