Box Score RICHMOND, IND. – Earlham posted a pair of goals in the opening 20 minutes to get out to a fast start en route to a 3-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Manchester Saturday, Oct. 20.
The Spartans (7-6-5, 3-3-1 HCAC), seeing a three-match win string come to an end, were out-shot 30-5. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind.) tried to keep her team close to the Quakers with 15 saves to close a 29-save week.
Freshman forward Bridgette Rowe (La Quinta, Calif.) took a pair of shots at Earlham's net but was foiled in each attempt. Her sister, Allison, also had a shot on goal, as did junior midfielder Laura Jenkins (Sellersburg, Ind.).
Manchester remains in the hunt for an HCAC playoff berth going into the final week of the regular season. Coach Andy Stout's squad travels to Anderson for a 7 p.m. kickoff Wednesday, Oct. 24, just a half-game behind Rose-Hulman and Defiance for fourth place.
