Box Score

ALBION, MICH. – Fueled by five players scoring in double figures, Manchester University took advantage of a big second half to overcome Wabash at the Mike Turner Tipoff Classic presented by the Rotary Club of Albion Saturday, Nov. 17.

The Spartans, leveling their season record at 1-1, trailed 13-6 early but chipped away at the Little Giants (0-1) to make the halftime score 28-26. MU got the second half started quickly with a 19-5 run that overturned a 33-26 deficit into a 45-38 lead with 10:26 to go. The final 6:18 was nip-and-tuck, as the two sides traded leads and were tied twice. A three-point bucket from sophomore guard Caleb Jackson (New Castle, Ind.) put MU up 55-52 with three minutes to go, and Coach Brad Nadborne's team wasn't overtaken from that point en route to a 59-54 win.

MU's trio of senior center David House (Elkhart, Ind.) and sophomore forward Silas Sims (Hope, Ind.) and sophomore guard Grant Newlin (Muncie, Ind.) each contributed 11 points. Sims pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Newlin dished out four assists and picked up two steals. Sophomore guard Greg Flores (Hammond, Ind.) and sophomore forward Jon Thompson (Rushville, Ind.) added 10 points each.

Manchester University resumes its non-league slate with its 2012-13 home opener Tuesday, Nov. 20, when the University of Indiana at Kokomo visits Stauffer-Wolfe Arena for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
