Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – The underclassman trio of sophomore guard Greg Flores (Hammond, Ind.), sophomore forward Jon Thompson (Rushville, Ind.) and freshman forward Jarod Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) each registered double-figure scoring games to highlight a 70-52 loss to Rose-Hulman Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Flores, earning his seventh straight double-figure scoring game, tallied 11 points to go with a co-team-high four rebounds. Thompson led the Spartans (3-5 overall, 0-2 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) with 16 points and also pulled down four rebounds. Schrock was a perfect four-of-four from the field and two-of-two from beyond the arc for 10 points.
MU and the visiting Fightin' Engineers (6-1, 2-0 HCAC) went back and forth throughout the first half with the game being tied 25-25 at the break. Schrock hit a long-range jumper to open the second stanza and gave the Spartans a 28-25 lead. However, a quick 8-0 run by the visitors helped them move into a 33-28 advantage. Coach Brad Nadborne's squad continued to remain close, trailing by as few as six (50-44) with 9:41 to play, but a 16-3 run from that point gave R-H a 19-point lead.
Manchester continues its 2012-13 league schedule Saturday, Dec. 8, with a 3 p.m. tipoff at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.
