Spartans earn second draw in last three matches

Box Score

The Spartans (1-3-2) managed to break up, to what had been to that point, a scoreless draw when sophomore forward Breanna McLane (Westville, Ind.) took a pass from fellow sophomore forward Katelyn Barta (Griffith, Ind.) for a goal in the 86th minute. However, a chance to start a brief two-match road trip with a win was dashed when BU answered in the 88th minute.

Coach Andy Stout's team, earning its second draw in its last three outings, held a 27-11 shots advantage. Sophomore midfielder Sofie Tzortzinis (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and McLane combined for 11 of Manchester's tries. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind.) joined her counterpart, BU's Candace Rodgers, in keeping things level throughout. Willmann ended with seven saves, while Rodgers tallied nine.

The Black and Gold continue their trip with a 3 p.m. start at Purdue University-Calumet Sunday, Sept. 16. A live videocast can is available via http://www.manchester.edu/athletics.
