Box Score 4 Pruden compiled 44 kills and a .205 attack percentage, while Pavelka ended with 23 kills and only seven errors in 59 attempts for a glowing .271 attack percentage to help lift Coach Kendra Marlowe's team to a 2-2 record at Aurora University's Jim Coleman Memorial Tournament. The Spartans (5-4) remained above the .500 mark with their weekend finish, defeating Rockford College and the host in three sets each on day two.
Pavelka also led the Black and Gold at the net on defense with 12 blocks (four solo and eight assisted) and from the back line (four ace serves). Setter Mikayla Munn (Elkhart, Ind.) (88 assists), middle hitter Devin Clark (Madison, Ind.) (10 blocks), defensive specialist Meika Kennedy (North Manchester, Ind.) (44 digs) and outside/middle hitter Kelsie Thomas (Wabash, Ind.) (20 kills and five blocks) also got in on the act for the Spartans' first-year class.
Manchester University returns to its schedule and home court at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14 and 15, for the 2012 Pizza Hut Invitational. The Spartans look to continue recent success in weekend tournaments when they face Calumet College – St. Joseph, Capital University of Ohio, Purdue University – North Central and Wilmington College of Ohio during the two-day tourney.
