Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University put three players in double figures Wednesday, Jan. 2, but it couldn't overcome 12 three-point buckets from Anderson University in a 71-60 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference defeat.
The Spartans, dipping to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference, got out of the gates fast, leading 10-3 nearly seven minutes in. A 19-6 stretch for the visiting Ravens (7-5, 3-2 HCAC) gave them a 22-16 lead they wouldn't relinquish. MU did move within two in the final minutes of the first half but could get no closer. Coach Brad Nadborne's squad kept their guests within arms' reach early in the second frame before Anderson's long ball accuracy put the lead into double figures.
Senior forward David House (Elkhart, Ind.) registered a double-double to lead the way for the Black and Gold. He scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while also dishing out two assists and picking up two steals. Sophomore guard Greg Flores (Hammond, Ind.) added 11 points and five rebounds, while sophomore forward Silas Sims (Hope, Ind.) came off the bench for 10 points and the Spartans' lone blocked shot.
Manchester resumes league play with a 3 p.m. tipoff against Earlham Saturday, Jan. 5. The game is set for EC's Trueblood Fieldhouse inside the Athletics and Wellness Center.
NOTES: House's double-double was his second of the season. … The Spartans look to turn a recent stretch of five losses in their last six games around on the road as five of their next eight dates are away from Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
