Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Three players reached double figures for Manchester University to highlight a 65-52 defeat at the hands of Bluffton University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday, Feb. 6.
Freshman guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) led the trio with 14 points, hitting six-of-10 field goal attempts which included two three-point baskets. Sophomore forward Silas Sims (Hope, Ind.) flirted with a double-double, tallying 12 points and eight rebounds. Senior forward David House (Elkhart, Ind.) rounded out the group with 12 points to go with four assists and two blocked shots.
The Spartans (4-18, 1-14 HCAC) turned in a solid first half effort. Coach Brad Nadborne's squad scored the first nine points of the game and continued to hold as large as a six-point lead with just over seven minutes to go. Bluffton (10-12, 6-9 HCAC) responded by scoring 16 of the final 22 points to lead 29-25 at halftime.
The visitors continued their roll to begin the second half, going on a 20-6 run to lead 49-31 with 10:13 to play. The lead grew to as large as 23 (58-35) before the Spartans battled back to close the contest on a 17-7 march.
MU continues its current two-game home stretch with a clash against Transylvania University Saturday, Feb. 9. Tipoff at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena is set for 3 p.m.
NOTES: Dolezal's double-figure effort was his second of the season and a new personal single-game high. … Freshman forward Jared Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) also contributed some strong stats, dishing out a team-high five assists and blocking two Beaver shot attempts. … Sims' eight boards extended his multiple-rebound string to 14 consecutive games. He's also been in scoring double figures in five of the last seven contests.
