Spartans upended by Transylvania

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Sophomore forward Silas Sims (Hope, Ind.) posted a team-high 11 points and grabbed three rebounds to lead Manchester University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action against Transylvania University Saturday, Feb. 9.

A hot shooting Pioneers' crew, draining 17 three-point baskets, broke away early for a 91-47 win. TU (18-5, 13-3 HCAC) scored 18 of the game's first 27 points.

Sims was part of a solid 47.1 percent field goal shooting game for the Spartans (4-19, 1-15 HCAC). He was three-for-six from the field and buried a three-pointer. His rebound total shared the squad lead with sophomore guard Caleb Jackson (New Castle, Ind.) and senior forward David House (Elkhart, Ind.). House was second in scoring with eight points and also dished out two assists.

The Black and Gold open the final week of the 2012-13 campaign with a trip to league rival Anderson University Wednesday, Feb. 13. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium on AU's campus.
