Senior pitcher/first baseman MacKenzie Williams (Kendallville, Ind.) tallied a .462 batting average, guiding Manchester University in contests against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Franklin College and non-conference opponent Alma College of Michigan Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17.

Williams cracked six hits in 13 at-bats while driving in two Spartan runs in the four-game set. She was one of six MU players to tally two-or-more safeties in the span, as sophomore outfielder/pitcher Mallorie Jennings (Bourbon, Ind.), freshman catcher Sydney Thompson (Logansport, Ind.), senior designated hitter/outfielder Kaile Niezgodski (South Bend, Ind.), senior infielder Jessica Chorak (Hammond, Ind.) and sophomore second baseman Laurren Ladwig (Crown Point, Ind.) finished with two each.

Despite the numbers, MU dropped both ends of the match-up with the Grizzlies 7-1 and 11-3 Saturday and were blanked 5-0 in both games by the Fighting Scots Sunday. The Black and Gold (16-12 overall, 5-5 HCAC) return to action Wednesday, April 20, hosting Defiance College of Ohio at 3:30 p.m.
