Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University men's basketball team dropped a 62-48 decision to visiting Rose-Hulman on Saturday evening.
Manchester fell behind early in the contest as the Fightin' Engineers jumped out to an early 12-0 lead. The Spartans trailed by as much as 15 in the opening period. However, the Spartans used a 16-7 run over the final 7:15 of the first half and trailed by just six, 28-22, at halftime. Cornell Hampton (Griffith, Ind. / Griffth) scored nine of his 13 points in the first 20 minutes of action.
Rose-Hulman began to pull away in the second half behind an early 10-0 run that saw the Fightin' Engineers take a 38-28 lead.
For the game, Rose shot 36.7% (18-49) from the floor and 4-20 from downtown. Manchester was limited to 27.1% (16-59) shooting from the floor. The Spartans went 3-18 (16.7%) from three-point territory.
Hampton led MU with 13 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench. Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind. / Fall Creek) finished with nine points and four rebounds. Abdul Ogunnaike finished with a game-high nine rebounds. Ogunnaike also had three steals and two blocks.
Manchester fell to 3-6, 1-3 HCAC on the season. Rose-Hulman moved to 6-4, 3-1 HCAC. The Spartans will have a quick turnaround as they host Elmhurst on Monday December 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Wolfe-Stauffer Arena.
