Manchester Falls to Hot-shooting Ravens

ANDERSON, Ind. – Rival Anderson University led wire-to-wire and topped the visiting Manchester Spartans 94-70 on Wednesday night in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball action.

The Ravens' offense proved difficult to contain on Wednesday as Anderson shot a blistering 64 percent (32-50) from the floor and 62.5 percent (10-16) from deep. Anderson also made 20 of its 25 free throw attempts for an 80 percent clip.

The Spartans were limited to 37 percent (24-65) shooting on Wednesday evening.

Junior Matthew Westman (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) finished with 22 points and made six of Manchester's 12 3-pointers. Fellow junior CJ Hampton (Hammond, Ind./Griffith) chipped in 16 points. DeMoines Whitney (Detroit, Mich./Detroit) ended Wednesday's game with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Manchester (8-16, 6-11 HCAC) will host Earlham College on Saturday, February 22, beginning at 4 p.m. in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. The Spartans will honor their senior class prior to tip with the Quakers.

Anderson improved to 12-13, 9-8 HCAC and clinched a spot in the HCAC Tournament. The Ravens will take on Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon.
