HCAC Announces Preseason Poll for Women's Basketball

CARMEL, Ind. – With hoops season just around the corner, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its preseason poll for women's basketball on Wednesday October 27.

In a vote amongst league coaches, perennial power Transylvania was selected as favorite to win the conference. The Pioneers received six first-place votes and 95 points.

Hanover College was picked to finish second after earning two first-place votes and 86 points in Wednesday's poll. The Lions of Mount St. Joseph picked up one first-place vote and 70 points while, Franklin College (one first-place vote and 66 points), Bluffton University (65 points), and Anderson University (64 points) went Nos. 3-6.

Manchester University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology both finished in a tie-for-seventh-place after receiving 29 points in Wednesday's poll.

Senior forward Macy Miller (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) was selected as a "Player to Watch" by the league office on Wednesday. Miller is a two-time Honorable Mention All-HCAC performer. A season ago, Miller averaged 10.1 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game while notching a pair of double-doubles.

The Black & Gold will open their season on the road on Saturday November 6 at Rockford in Illinois. Game time from Rockford is scheduled for 2 p.m. (1 p.m. Central Time). The women will then follow up with an exhibition contest at Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 9 before hosting Kalamazoo in their home opener on Nov. 12.
