CARMEL, Ind. - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the 2023 Men's Basketball All-Conference teams and the major award winners on Wednesday, February 22.

After leading Manchester to a 16-9 regular season record this season, a 14-4 mark in league play and a share of the conference regular season title for the first time since 2020-11, head coach Nate Conley was voted as the 2023 HCAC Coach of the Year.

Sophomore guard/forward Logan Willoughby (Greenwood, Ind., Whiteland Community) earned All-Conference First Team accolades, while teammates Bryant Smith (West Lafayette, Ind., Harrison) and Zach Sawyer (Columbus, Ohio, Bishop Watterson) were named Second Team and sophomore Quentez Columbus (South Bend, Ind., Adams)) Honorable Mention.

Willoughby finished the regular season averaging 16.3 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game, finishing the season with 325 points and 104 rebounds. Willoughby shot 45.3% from the field, 40.0% from three-point range, and 81.6% from the free throw line this season. He scored 20 or more points five times this season, scoring double figures in 17 games he appeared in. Willoughby also ranks in the conference in rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, three-point field goals per game, three-point percentage, assists, assists/turnover ratio, and steals. 

Smith finished the regular season with 393 points, averaging 16.4 points per game and shooting 42.2% from the field, 41.9% from three-point range, and 81.0% from the free throw line.

Sawyer has netted 322 paints this season and 123 rebounds, leading the Spartans with 16.9 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 21 steals per game. Sawyer finished the season leading the HCAC in field goal percentage, shooting 60.1% from the field.

Rounding out the All Conference honors, Columbus tallied 270 points and 76 assists in the regular season. The sophomore guard averaged 12.9 points per game and 3.6 assists per game this season for the Spartans.

Manchester University will host the 2023 HCAC Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals and Championship Games in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. The No. 2 seeded Anderson Ravens will play the No. 4 seeded Hanover Panthers on Friday. February 24 at 5:00 p.m. The No.1 seeded Spartans will then host the No. 3 seeded Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers at 7:00 p.m.
