Spartans Sweep the Comets!

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.- The Manchester Softball team hosted the University of Olivet for a Non-Conference doubleheader against the Comets on Friday, April 19. 
 
The Spartans sweep the Comets, winning game one 10-1 and game two 8-1. With these wins the Spartans improve to 17-10 overall, 6-2 (HCAC)
 
GAME 1: MANCHESTER 10, OLIVET 1
  • The Comets got the game started with an RBi single in the first.
  • However the Spartans responded with a RBI Double from Lizzy Willis and a RBI single from Sabrina Leonard
  • The Spartans put up four runs in the third, with help from a Molly Gilhooly RBI triple
  • Later in the 5th, Gilhooly and Singleton were able to both get their 2nd RBI of the game, as the Spartans put up four more runs.
  • As a team, the Spartans recorded 10 hits. Dittmar lead the way going 2-2 at the plate with three RBIs
  • Carr was on the mound for all five innings, recording three strikeouts and holding the Comets to 3 hits. The win advances her to 6-1 on the season.
GAME 2: MANCHESTER 8, OLIVET 1
  • Olivet was first on the board again, scoring one run to start the 1st inning.
  • The bottom of the first was followed by two runs from the Spartans, scored by Kendal Rider and Lizzy Willis.
  • Abby Eberhardt brought in the lone run of the 3rd with a single up the middle.
  • Erin Singleton singled up the middle scoring two as Manchester scored four in the 5th.
  • The last run of the game came off the bat of Molly Moxley in the 6th inning with a single through the left side.
  • Olivet's final effort was cut short, with Manchester winning 8-1.
  • As a team, the Spartans recorded 18 hits, Dittmar went 3-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored.
  • Lizzy Willis earned her third win of the season in the circle for the Black and Gold, throwing a complete 7.0 innings and striking out seven batters.
UP NEXT
  • Manchester travels to Lexington, KY on April 21 to take on the Transylvania Pioneers in a HCAC Doubleheader.
  • Action for game one will begin at 1:00 p.m. with game two to follow.
