NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – A gritty effort in blustery conditions at Spartan Field fell short for Manchester University Wednesday, Oct. 29.

MU (5-12 overall, 1-7 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) produced 13 shots, four of which Franklin College goalkeeper Cody Chapman had to save to keep a 90-minute clean sheet. On the end of the pitch, freshman keeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.) was nearly equal to the task with five saves, but FC, improving to 7-6-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the HCAC, got two chances past him in the 33rd and 65th minutes off the foot of Ian Mullen for a 2-0 win.

Coach Dave Good's team proved aggressive in both halves but especially the first. Sophomore forward Ola Ladapo (London, England), the squad's total shots leader (four), had two strong opportunities in the period. His first try, coming down the left side of the field, went just high towards the upper right hand corner and his second scooting over the crossbar from in front. Sophomore midfielder Chris Hosier (Kokomo, Ind.) also had a good look in the span, as the ball slammed against the post and went wide of a goal-scoring chance.

The Black and Gold bring the curtain down on the 2014 season Saturday, Nov. 1. Mt. St. Joseph University of Ohio comes to North Manchester for a 3 p.m. kickoff as part of the Senior Day 2014 recognition.
