Senior Day proves successful

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Offense and plenty of it was on the menu for Manchester University Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Spartans, winding up the 2014 season at 6-12 overall and 2-7 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference stung visiting Mt. St. Joseph University of Ohio with a 33-11 shots barrage and five goals en route to a 5-2 win on Senior Day 2014. Senior midfielder Austin Finley (Kokomo, Ind.) helped spotlight the recognition of the Class of 2015 team members with a goal early in the second half, while the underclassman corps added the other four scores.

Sophomore forward Ola Ladapo (London, England) opened the scoring in the 21st minute, while freshman Tod Oram (Crown Point, Ind.) hooked a perfectly-placed corner into the right side of the Lions' net later in the first half to give the home team a 2-0 halftime advantage. Finley quickly made it 3-0 in the 46th minute, while freshman midfielder Collin Singer (Columbus, Ind.) struck a pair of scores to conclude MU's scoring in the second 45 minutes.

The offensive blitzkreig aided freshman goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.). He registered two saves in 90 minutes for the win.

NOTES: Finley closed his final season in a Black and Gold uniform as the team leader in goals (seven), points (16) and game-winning goals (two). Freshman midfielder Travis Richardson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) added squad bests in total shots (47) and shots on goal (21) … A good share of the Spartans' roster managed minutes in the season finale with 24 playing.
