Box Score ANGOLA, IND. - Senior midfielder Austin Finley (Kokomo, Ind.) tallied his second goal of the year, highlighting Manchester University's opening match at the Trine University Ketner Classic Friday, Sept. 12.
After a scoreless dual in the opening 45 minutes in which freshman goalkeeper Jared Hallal (Indianapolis, Ind.) battled his Bulldogs' counterpart Lino Taormina tooth and nail to a scoreless tie at the break. Hallal swatted away four opponent shot-on-goal tries compared to Taormina's three.
Finley's score broke up the deadlock in the 51st minute with help from an assist from freshman forward Travis Richardson (Elizabethtown, Ind.). However, Adrian, improving to 2-2, started their comeback with a tying goal less than six minutes later. They added a pair of scores in the 73rd and 85th minutes en route to the 3-1 decision.
MU (2-2) trailed 16-11 in the total shots category and 9-7 in shots on goal. Senior forward Loic Youth (Detroit, Mich.) rifled a pair of attempts that were saved, while Richardson turned in three overall to go with his team-leading second assist.
The Spartans wrap up play at the Ketner Classic Saturday, Sept. 13. They face off with the host Thunder at 5 p.m.
