Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – A pair of goals less than two minutes apart from sophomore forward Ola Ladapo (London, England) and senior forward Loic Youth (Detroit, Mich.) helped conclude Manchester University's regular season non-conference schedule on a high note Saturday, Sept. 27.
MU (4-5), winners of two of its last three contests, trailed the visiting Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech 1-0 at halftime due to a 34th minute score. However, freshman goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.) managed to keep the Spartans' offense close, thwarting eight other opportunities from the visitors (5-2-1).
The Ladapo-Youth combination took advantage of Forman's strong net play from the 64th to 66th minutes of the second half. Ladapo, as part of a three-point afternoon in which he also assisted Youth's game winner, tallied his fifth goal of the season at 64:27, while Youth broke up the deadlock less than two minutes later (66:10) with his fourth goal of the year.
Manchester University ended with nine shot attempts compared to Illinois Tech's 13. Freshman forward Travis Richardson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and freshman defender Tod Oram (Crown Point, Ind.) tallied two each.
The Black and Gold look to continue their recent success, opening the 2014 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule Saturday, Oct. 4, at Transylvania University of Kentucky.
