Black and Gold even conference record

Box Score

DEFIANCE, OHIO – A theme of balanced scoring continued Tuesday, Oct. 6, for Manchester University.

Three Spartans tallied goals, including sophomore defender/midfielder/forward Tod Oram (Crown Point, Ind.) with a pair, during a 5-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at Defiance College's Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.

Oram's first score put MU (4-5-2, 1-1 HCAC) 1-0 within the first 20 minutes, and the visitors were off to the races. Despite being out-shot 19-13 by the hosts, they added another strike from Oram and one each from sophomore midfielder/forward Travis Richardson (Elizabethtown, Ky.), freshman midfielder Ryan Morley (Canton, Mich.) and freshman midfielder Samuel Tetteh-Quarsie (Acra, Ghana) to conclude their scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.) benefited from the offensive attack, registering his first collegiate 90-minute clean sheet. Forman knocked away six Yellow Jacket shot on goal attempts.

The Black and Gold resume a home and away week in league play Saturday, Oct. 10. Hanover College comes to Spartan Soccer Field for a 3 p.m. kickoff.

NOTES: Manchester University's five goals in a conference match were the most for a program since last November against Mt. St. Joseph … Oram's multiple-goal effort was the second of his career.
