Box Score CHICAGO, ILL. – Junior forward Ola Ladapo (London, England) struck his seventh career goal and gave Manchester University an early second half lead Sunday, Sept. 6, but it wasn't enough to ensure the Black and Gold their first victory of 2015.
The Spartans, dipping to 0-2-1, nearly worked their way around a 20-11 shots disadvantage against eventual Illinois Tech tournament champion Marian University of Wisconsin. However, the Sabers tallied goals in the 51st and 74th minutes to rally for a 2-1 decision.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.), earning all-tournament honors along with sophomore defender Andy Giles (Elizabethtown, Ky.), knocked away five other Marian shot attempts to keep his teammates close. Ladapo finished with four shot attempts, while sophomore defender/midfielder/forward Tod Oram (Crown Point, Ind.), who assisted Ladapo's score, and sophomore midfielder/forward Travis Richardson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) registered two tries each.
Manchester University opens its 2015 home schedule Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12, hosting its half of the 2015 Anderson University-MU Raven-Spartan Classic. The Black and Gold host Wabash College at 5 p.m. and Adrian College of Michigan at 3 p.m. Saturday.
