Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – A resounding 4-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road win capped Manchester University's 2016 campaign Saturday, Oct. 29.
The Spartans, closing at 9-6-3 overall and 3-5-1 in the conference for its most victories since 2008 and best record since 2007, got on the scoreboard at Earlham College's Matlack Field quickly. Sophomore forward Drake DeWitt (Columbia City, Ind.) drilled a strike down the middle near the front of the Quakers' net for his second tally of the season, good for the eventual game winner in the 14th minute, and came back to close a three-point day with an assist on junior defender/forward/midfielder Tod Oram's (Crown Point, Ind.) third goal of the season that opened the second half scoring. The remaining net finders came from junior midfielder Luke Headings (Bluffton, Ohio) in the 44th minute and senior midfielder Chris Hosier (Kokomo, Ind.) in the 84th minute.
Junior goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.) and the Black and Gold defense benefitted from the offensive output. Forman registered his fourth shutout of the season and second straight clean sheet, registering two saves in 90 minutes. Coach Corey Brueggeman's side held a 15-3 shots advantage on their hosts with Oram's three leading the way.
